Dazza Tackles . . . Pete "Lucky" Luscombe

This week Dazza has a quiet ale with Rockwiz Orchestra drummer and rabid Collingwood maniac Pete "Lucky" Luscombe to find out how he really feels about footy and beer.

 

1. They say that most footballers want to be musicians and most musicians want to be footballers. What are your thoughts on this?

For me it was always either football or music but at age 17 when Collingwood hadn't called I decided I should knuckle down and get serious about music. The last 2 years of football I decided to go to a lower grade (F grade Amateurs ) and enjoy having a yard or 2 on the old blokes. 

2. What is the worst half time grand final entertainment you've ever seen? 

 I think it's hard to remember anything that hasn't been shit.

 

3. The Community Cup is on again this year at Elsternwick Park June 26th. What is something about the Community Cup that is lacking in commercial AFL?

 Proper half time entertainment....and much better food stalls.

 

4. As a past coach/player for the Rockdogs, what is your best memory of playing in a Community Cup?

I coached the Rockdogs for 5 years but only played once, in my final year. I think the best memory is the "Dennis Banks" hit i put on J.Parsons.

 

5. If you were lining up for a goal on the final siren, which song would you want played on the PA and why? 

I think "Under Pressure" with the crowd doing the finger clicks over the Bassline.

I think it would also prepare them for the disappointment if I missed.

 

6. If you could have a drink with any player past or present who would it be and why?

Tuddy or Didak. Ther's a great story about the last ever game at Vic Park when all the past players sat in the Members section, Tuddy was in the outer drinking Brandy (from the bottle) with the fans.

 

7. If you could choose any band from history to form a backline with, what band would it be?

It's hard to pick English bands from the sixties because they're all little fellas. I think the guys from Edgar Winters White Trash would be cool. They look like real Bad dudes.

 

8. What is your favourite pub for a post-game beer?

Without a doubt The Union club in Fitzroy. Great Collingwood pub.

 

9. Best footy bogan - Danny Southern, Tony Lockett, Darren Milburn or The Fev?

Robbie McGhee. Ever seen that photo with him tying up his boot at 3/4 time with a smoke hanging out of his mouth?

 

10. You recently had the opportunity to play to both a crowd of inmates at port phillip prison with Tex Perkins and a crowd of collingwood fans at the MCG with Vikka and Linda (to unfurl the flag). Was there any difference?
